Margaret River - Day 1

We decided to take a trip to southwestern Western Australia with Chris's parents.  We decided to book a hotel a few days before so we could do more in the area.  We started off visiting the longest pier... quickly. 
The kids were hungry and I had been telling them we were going to a play park for lunch.  Along the way we saw a bunch of kangaroos hopping down the countryside and then ran into some sheep.

Xscape at the Cape Fun Park was a good place to stretch our legs after travelling over 2 hours.  It was only open 10am - 2pm and we arrived around noon.  So we bought a pass for the climbing things, bounce house, train, maze and putt putt.  The kids played while we waited on our lunch from the cafe.  Then they took the train ride.  It was a little train in a figure 8 pattern that they did 3 times in maybe 5 minutes but they loved it.  Then we sat them down to eat and it started to sprinkle, then rain, then downpour with wind, and so the fun park adventure was over. 

There was Simmo's Ice Creamery nearby so I suggested we just go there picturing we would see how they make ice cream like at the Blue Bell Factory.  Well it's an ice cream shop with a playground and minature golf but it was wet so there wasn't any playing to be done.

Then we kept treking south and checked into the hotel and then headed out to visit the town of Margaret River.  We parked at one end and made our way down the main street.  We started off at the Margaret River Fudge Factory and tasted a few samples.  They had 4 flavors out including mint chocolate, peanut butter and boysenberry to sample.  There were some general stores and some chains and just nothing that really stuck out in our mind. 
My favorite shop was Lloyds of Margaret River that was a little gift shop (tea towels, kitchen items, handmade soaps), outdoor sculptures (I wanted a little blue sheep similar to this) mixed with Anthropologie (clocks, wooden letters, home decor) and left with a glass paperweight that looks like it has a jellyfish in it.  Emilia liked Boutique Eco where she and I bought matching Uggs since she now can wear a women's size 5 shoe.

We went back to the hotel since things were starting to close at 5pm but we weren't ready for dinner yet.  The kids loved that our room was right by the playground so Beau climbed onto the tractor for a ride and Emilia was using the zipline.

The day of Day 1 ended by eating pizza.  The pizza shop had a constant stream of customers and Beau got to watch as they made our pizzas.
