Our second day in Sydney, we took a walk to the Circular Quay. It's the heart of all the typical touristy stuff you think of in Sydney. We walked past the Opera House but didn't take a tour inside since we didn't think the kids would be that interested but it's something on my to-do list if we ever go back.
We did catch a little train past the Opera House that took us on a tour of the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens. You could hop off and on at different stops along the way. It is huge and apparently a very popular place to go running at lunch. This was the location of the first farms and gardens in Sydney and still has a great variety of plants and flowers. This is another place where I could have spent more time!
After having some lunch near the Opera House, we walked over to The Rocks. We walked along the cobblestone streets and saw some of the first houses built in Sydney.
A sandstone statue titled "First Impressions" is a memorial to three types of
settlers in Australia- convicts, soldiers and settlers.
