Tracey's Hair Cut

I saw this picture of Norah Jones about a month ago.

So I figured that my hair could do that and made an appointment for that afternoon.

Here's what it looked like last week.

And it was long enough to donate to Locks of Love.  They need at least 10 inches and your hair can be colored but not bleached or highlighted.

1994.  Half of my lifetime ago.  I was 17.  I just graduated from high school and looking forward to being a fish at Texas A&M... the college I wanted to go to since 4th grade.  My best friends were Stephanie, Tracy, and Mick.  My phone number could be dialed using 7 digits.  I didn't have an email address or a cell phone or text messages (unless you count the beepers that people could write words as phone numbers).  We didn't have an internet connection.  We still used the Apple IIGS for a computer.  I drove a 1993 Chevy Cavalier- black with a red stripe.  It had a radio and power door locks.  My parents had a CD player installed in it for my birthday.  The Real World had only shown 2 seasons - New York and Los Angeles.  I made $4.50 an hour working at Party N' More... that was $0.25 more than minimum wage!

I can't believe that was 17 years ago.  I see seniors graduating this year and it doesn't feel like I'm that far removed from it.  But then again, I graduated from college 12 years ago.  Everyone around Houston dials 10 digits even if it's not long distance.  I got my first email address as a college freshman and can't remember the last time I wrote a real letter to someone.  I bought my first cell phone in 1998.  It was $24.99/mo for 70 daytime minutes and 500 evening/weekend minutes.  That seems so funny now.  I've been at my company for 10 years.  I'm married with 2 kids.  Would I want to go back and do anything differently?  Probably not.  I could definitely have done some things better but in the end I could also have ended up a lot worse off!

So now I'm officially mid-30's.  I wonder what 68 will be like.  Hopefully I'm still kicking!

New pictures

I haven't been very good at taking pictures lately.  This was apparent when I came to download pictures and I only had 31!

So Emilia had her 1st day of Pre-K where she wears a uniform Monday - Thursday now.  She is very excited about this and it's easier to have her pick out her clothes now since it's going to be some combination of skirt, shirt, jumper, shorts, or dress.  Friday is a different story!  I need to take a picture out of what she's wearing today.  Patterned leggings, blue jean skirt, and hot pink t-shirt with black lace.  It's a little old school Madonna.  She's grown so much this summer that we went to the mall last Friday and bought her some new clothes and shoes.  She's gone from a shoe size 11 in April to a 13 now.  Crazy!!  And we had to buy an outfit just like they had on the mannequin since that's how it's suppossed to be worn so she now has a long sleeved white shirt, purple skirt, and pink leggings.  Thanks Children's Place!  And she wore this for Moppy's birthday on Saturday even though it's 100 degrees outside.

Beau is growing too.  He's up to 9 lbs 4 oz from his low weight of 7 lbs 2 oz after he was born.  So 2 pounds in 3 weeks.  He's getting a little more alert and not completely sleeping his days away.  He likes to be held sometimes when he's sleeping in case he wakes up and wants to know what's going on.  He also makes noises like he's trying to get in on the conversations with us.  He always tries to move his head to find Emilia if she's talking or singing... and she's always talking or singing.

Beau took his 1st trip to College Station last Friday.  Katherine was in town for her 10 year vet school reunion and Rebekah was in Texas visiting so we got together to catch up.  It's hard to believe we've been out of school so long and haven't seen each other but then it feels like we haven't changed that much and can just catch up on where we are in life.

We're looking forward to welcoming Beau in 6 weeks! I'll post completed bathroom and bedroom pictures soon (and will take them with a real camera). Here are some updated pictures.

Is there a difference?

Is there a difference in these pictures taken 3 weeks apart? People at church were asking how many days I had to go. Days? How about 2 MONTHS!

On a happier note, we painted Beau's bathroom this weekend and it looks great. Now we can start decorating!

26+ weeks

Ah, the last trimester. I love reading the descriptions of the baby and your body every week. For example, this week my uterus is the size of a basketball and the baby is over 2 pounds and about 15 inches, the size of a cucumber. At least it looks obvious that there's a baby in my belly :-)







Not too bad from the front. Just a little round. I'm not spreading as wide as I did with Emilia since he's not laying transverse.



Beau's head is under the right side of my ribs and his body is sitting pretty high with his feet kicking down low. His heartrate was 161 bpm last Thursday at my checkup. Next doctor's visit is in 4 weeks. They usually start appointments every 2 weeks starting at 28 weeks but my doctor was ok starting those at 30 weeks.
