Emilia's 8th Birthday Party - Part 1

Emilia wanted an art-themed birthday party.  So we decorated with black and white, purple and yellow (LSU? Geaux Tigers ;-)  All the kids are from her school-- about half from her class last year and half from her class this year.

They started by painting 20x20cm canvases with acrylics.

Beau and Sam used watercolors for their creations.

Beau was proud of mixing the black and red to make maroon.  At least one of my kids has the Aggie Spirit! 

Isaac thought this beard made him resemble Jesus. 

After painting, they played with the photo booth props.  They were so funny!  Maybe this is the older kids version of dress-up.  (I printed this out, traced it onto foam board, cut it them out and then hot glued a skewers to them)

Emilia woke up and noticed that Ellie our Elf had returned and dressed for a party!  I forgot to take a picture of her but you can see her on the right in this picture…

Emilia has been looking at Aunt Kaley's present for days and she knew that was the first present she wanted to open.

She wanted Pictionary but apparently they don't make it anymore.  I found this on Gumtree (Australian craigslist) right down the street for $5!  The only thing missing was 1 pencil and it was barely used.

School Treats for Emilia's class

On Friday, the day before Emilia's 8th birthday, Rosalie's faction Onslow was doing a fundraiser so Emilia gave a gold coin donation and had free dress wearing Onslow green.  This is one of the very rare days were she isn't wearing a blue uniform to school!

They also had soccer shot, hockey shot, guess how many jelly beans are in the jar, etc.  So Emilia bought 1 kick for soccer and made it (She was pretty sure that she would so she didn't buy 2 shots).  She also brought rice crispy (Rice Bubbles) treats for her class based on this from pinterest.

Now things are a little different in Australia.  The marshmallows here and white and pink (strawberry) so the treats were tinted and a bit flavored.  And the sprinkles for the white chocolate end are called "hundreds thousands".

Emilia turned 8 today.  She's in Year 3 and having a birthday party this afternoon.

11. What is your favorite book? Charlie Brown Super Book of Questions and Answers (this was my old book)
12. Who is your best friend? Sophie and Isaac and Amelia (from tennis)
13. What is your favorite cereal? Fruit Loops
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Flip on the bar at the park
15. What is your favorite drink? Milk
16. What is your favorite holiday? My birthday
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? My big eyed animals
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? toast
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Big noodle pasta but we're having green noodle pasta
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? a dentist, a singer or a flyer over the coastline to make sure people are safe
